About Me
Hi! I’m Kathryn and welcome to Cloud 9 Sleep Consulting. I’m a mom to three bright and busy children and I’ve worked in the field of Early Intervention for the past 19 years! I’m now adding Certified Child Sleep Consultant to the list of hats that I wear. In 2002, I graduated with a BS in Child Development from Colby Sawyer College. During my time at CSC, I developed a passion for working with children and their families. After graduation, I began my work in the field of Early Intervention as a Developmental Specialist. In this role, I work with families of children aged 0-3 who have or are at risk for a developmental delay. I really enjoy the 1:1 interactions and the ability to tailor my work individually to each distinct client. I strive to bring this same customization to my work as a sleep consultant.
When I was pregnant with my first child, I remember so many people telling me to “sleep now because you’ll never sleep again.” That’s not the most comforting advice for a first-time parent to receive! My daughter was born full term and healthy and by 8 weeks she was sleeping 10+ hours at a time through the night. Other moms at my new parent group, seemed mystified that sleep like that was actually possible. Fast forward 17 months to the birth of my second child, and I quickly understood why my other mama friends had seemed so incredulous about the ease of getting my first daughter to sleep. This second baby would not sleep! I tried everything I could think of. I read all the sleep books I could get my hands on. I drank lots and lots of coffee! Finally, when she was 9 months old, after months of lost sleep for all of us, I decided to sleep train her using the methods that I had read about that seemed best suited to her temperament. Within a few days, we noticed a huge improvement in her quality and quantity of sleep. This gave me the confidence to keep going with our new sleep plan. And wouldn’t you know it? It worked. She began to sleep well, and we were all happier. Two years later, when my son was born, I understood the value of setting up a healthy sleep foundation from the start. I was able to tweak what had worked for my daughter to suit his temperament and he also became a great sleeper. As my children have gotten older, we have experienced challenges in sleep related to my girls sharing a room, curtain calls from my son and all the kids needing one last hug, kiss, drink, etc. We have been able to manage and overcome all those obstacles by going back to the basics and sticking with a consistent sleep plan. Sleep does not have to be elusive and I am here to help! I would love to develop a custom sleep plan for you and your little one to help you get the rest you deserve.
